IMDG training is required for personnel involved in the transport of dangerous goods by sea, including those who prepare, pack, handle, document, accept, load, unload, or manage dangerous goods consignments.

Training should be aligned to the person’s role and responsibilities under the IMDG Code.

The right IMDG course depends on your role and the dangerous goods activities you perform.

The Academy provides IMDG certification for the following job functions; each course is suitable for both first-time certification and refresher training. There is no separate initial or recurrent version of the course:

• IMDG Code – Packing, preparing and accepting Dangerous Goods (Hazmat) consignments for freight forwarders, consolidators, cargo agents, and shippers
• IMDG Code – Preparing non-bulk Dangerous Goods (Hazmat) consignments for shippers, consignors, manufacturers and exporters
• IMDG Code – Packing and loading/unloading Dangerous Goods (Hazmat) consignments into cargo transport units
• IMDG Code - Ship loading and unloading operations for stevedores and dockside workers
• IMDG Code – Tank and bulk container operations 
• IMDG Code - Vessel operations for ship operators and crew
• IMDG Code - Senior Dangerous Goods (Hazmat) managers and Dangerous Goods Safety Advisors (DGSAs)

Yes. Users receive a certificate after successfully completing their IMDG course.

Academy certificates can be used to support internal training records, compliance management, and audit requirements.

IMDG training validity follows the applicable IMDG Code amendment cycle. Personnel trained under Amendment 42-24 remain current through to 31 December 2027. Updated training should be completed before the amendment under which you were trained expires.

Yes. If your current IMDG certification was completed through WiseTech Academy, an automatic reminder will be sent to you when it is due for renewal.

Yes. Individual users can enroll directly into the appropriate Dangerous Goods (Hazmat) course. A free Academy account and credit card payment are required.

Training is typically purchased per enrollment (per user, per course). Organizations manage enrollments through their WiseTech Academy Corporate Portal, with training charges consolidated and invoiced to your organization monthly. DGR access charges are applied via a monthly invoice.

Yes. The Corporate Portal allows organizations to manage enrollments and training across teams, locations, and business units under a single administrative account.
