Freight forwarders and personnel who accept and process dangerous goods (DG) consignments must complete IATA Function 7.3 to apply for or maintain their IATA Airline Cargo Agent accreditation.
IATA certification remains valid for two years. To retain accreditation, users enrolling in recurrent training must hold a current certification that remains valid through the completion of the training.
When IATA certification is not required
These courses are intended for personnel who prepare dangerous goods consignments for air transport but are not required by their employer, customer, airline, or national aviation authority to hold an IATA certification.

IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations access
To complete these courses, user must have access to the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) throughout the course and assessments.

Certificates and record management
Upon completion of an IATA dangerous goods course, an interim WiseTech Academy completion certificate is immediately available. The official IATA certificate is issued through WiseTech Academy following a formal review of the user’s assessments and completion status.
The generation of the IATA CBTA digital certificate depends on IATA processing the Academy's certificate issuance request. The certification date reflects the date the course was completed on the WiseTech Academy platform and is sent to the learner via email, typically within two weeks.
For organizations requiring centralized record management, domain administrators can request copies of certificates. This supports your internal compliance tracking and audit requirements.
Preparing for monitored (proctored) assessments
IATA CBTA certification requires monitored (proctored) assessments to verify learner identity and ensure compliance with accreditation standards. This is a compliance requirement stipulated by IATA for CBTA accreditation courses. The Academy uses Proctortrack to provide this service.
For organizations enrolling multiple users, it is recommended to establish a dedicated workstation for assessment activities. Setting up a designated learning computer with Proctortrack pre-installed and configured allows users to complete required assessment components without technical delays or setup challenges.
This approach:
- Reduces setup time for individual users
- Minimizes technical issues during assessments
- Ensures consistent compliance with proctoring requirements
- Allows users to focus on course completion rather than system setup
The dedicated workstation is only required for specific assessment components. For all other parts of the course, users can complete training on their own devices.
To access the final assessment, users will need to set up a Proctortrack account.
To complete this, they will need at least one of the following forms of ID:
- Passport
- Driver's license
- Official student ID - university ID, but not high school ID
- Any other government-issued ID
If users have the required identification documents ready, registration with Proctortrack should only take 5-10 minutes.
Users will be asked to agree to the proctored assessment requirements before purchase or upon starting the course, depending on their enrolment method. These requirements include:
- Privacy consent - consent to our “Privacy notice and consent to collection of information and related terms and conditions” is required in order for students to be eligible to receive the IATA certificate of attainment
- Proctoring consent - this exam will be proctored in order to verify a) student identity, and b) the absence of cheating and unauthorized external support during the exam, both of which are required in order to be eligible to receive the IATA certification

All users receive a WiseTech Academy completion certificate upon completion of their IATA DGR courses. The WiseTech Academy completion certificate can be used as proof of certification until the official IATA certificate is issued following a formal review of the user’s assessments and completion status.
Initial training
Initial IATA dangerous goods (DG) certificates are valid for 24 months from the date of successful course completion. To remain compliant, you must complete recurrent (refresher) training before your current certification expires, and with enough time to obtain recertification.
Recurrent (refresher) training
Recurrent training must be completed within the twenty-four (24) month validity period. The new expiry date is calculated according to when the recurrent training is completed:
- Training is completed within the final 3 months before DG certification expires - the new certificate validity is extended for 24 months from the existing expiry date. This means you do not lose any remaining validity by renewing early.
- Training is completed more than 3 months before DG certification expires; the new certificate validity starts from the date the recurrent training is completed.
If their Initial or Recurrent training was previously completed through WiseTech Academy, an automatic reminder will be sent to you when it is due to be renewed.
Course selection is based on the employee’s job function under IATA dangerous goods Regulations.

Proctortrack may fail if users do not follow the setup instructions exactly. Before launching Proctortrack, users should review the “Technical requirements” link in the Proctortrack onboarding instructions.
Common causes of Proctortrack failure include:
- Using a browser other than Chrome or Firefox.
- Downloading the incorrect version of Proctortrack.
- Running non-Proctortrack programs, being connected to a company VPN in the background, or attempting to launch Proctortrack from a virtual machine.
- Disabling JavaScript or third-party cookies.
- Not adding the Proctortrack URL to the approved/safe list.
Only the third assessment, monitored by Proctortrack, has an attempt limit. Users receive two attempts automatically.
If the first attempt is unsuccessful, the user is instructed via email and the results page to schedule a live review session with DG Air specialists at no additional charge. This session helps the user prepare for the second attempt.
If the second attempt is also unsuccessful, the domain administrator must enroll the user in a special course that provides two additional assessment attempts. For the IATA 7.3 Accepting course, the special course is course 4655 and is currently listed at US$22.
