The European Commission has recently confirmed the renewal of Taric WiseTech Global (WTG) as the official information provider for Access2Markets, the European Union’s reference portal for trade with third countries. The new contract, with an estimated value of €3.5 million, extends until the end of 2030 and further consolidates a long-standing strategic partnership that has been in place continuously since 2004.
For the 2026–2030 period, the Taric WTG team will continue to be responsible for the maintenance, updating and quality assurance of highly specialized information, specifically relating to:
- Non-tariff measures applicable in the European Union and its 27 Member States
- VAT and Excise Duties across the 27 EU Member States
Over the years, Taric WTG’s role within Access2Markets has grown in parallel with the evolution of the project, contributing to its deep technical expertise, innovative approach and proven capability in managing complex international trade regulatory information. This contribution has been particularly significant in the linking of measures and tax rates to tariff codes, as well as in providing a clear and structured description of compliance requirements.
Today, Access2Markets provides free and up-to-date information on the requirements for both imports into the EU and exports to more than 120 international markets, together with advanced tools and content addressing key areas of international trade, including:
- Rules of Origin (ROSA)
- EU trade defense measures
- Trade in services within the EU
- Barriers to trade for EU companies
Developed under the responsibility of the Directorate-General for Trade (DG TRADE), Access2Markets has evolved over more than twenty-two years from an information service primarily focused on EU imports from developing countries into a public reference platform with thousands of daily users. It now offers a comprehensive overview of EU trade policies on goods and services, access to equivalent information in partner countries, and direct contact channels with the competent authorities.
Maintaining such a long-term collaboration under demanding quality standards represents a clear recognition of the continuous excellence, reliability and added value that Taric WTG brings to one of the European Union’s most important trade-related services.
The impact of the project has also received institutional and public recognition: Access2Markets was awarded the European Ombudsman’s “Award for Good Administration 2021”, a prize granted through a public vote that recognizes initiatives delivering a visible, positive and direct impact on the EU’s economic and social activity.
