The EU Commission has published the consolidated list of tariff classification regulations with the updating of the Combined Nomenclature codes currently in force.
This list contains all classification regulations valid on 1 January 2025.
Since, due to the periodic revisions of the Harmonised System nomenclature (every five years) and annual amendments to the CN, some of the original tariff codes referred to in the regulations that were in force at the time of their adoption are no longer valid now, the regulations have been revised to update the CN codes concerned with the current nomenclature.
This is a big improvement in customs management simplification as this consolidated list will make it easier for economic operators to correctly classify their goods and for EU Member States to ensure uniform classification of goods.
The Combined Nomenclature is an EU-specific development of the World Customs Organization's Harmonized System nomenclature, applied by most trading countries and also used for international trade negotiations.
It should be noted that, although these classification regulations can be used as an aid to tariff classification in other parts of the world, they are legally binding only in the European Union.
